KCWA Community Restoration Nursery

Our new Community Restoration Nursery is the heart of Kula’s future. Here, native plants will be nurtured and grown, ready to replenish our watersheds and protect against wildfires.

With help from the Maui Strong Fund of the Hawai’i Community Foundation, KCWA has purchased the structures that will become the home for many keiki plants. The nursery will include two 60-foot, steel hoop house structures, an outdoor area for workshops and other educational opportunities, and a customized 40-foot storage container to support nursery materials storage and a small office for the nursery manager.

We’re currently looking to raise an additional $25,000 to outfit the nursery with an irrigation system, nursery tables, weed mat for the floors, picnic tables, an industrial sink, a retractable shade for sun protection, and a composting toilet.
