Kula Community Watershed Alliance Becomes 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner
We are pleased to announce Kula Community Watershed Alliance (KCWA) has joined 1% for the Planet as an environmental partner! This partnership is intended to advance our impact as well as involve more businesses in the environmental movement.
1% for the Planet is an accountability partner for businesses that are ready to reject business as usual and give back to environmental partners making a difference around the globe. Started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, their members have given hundreds of millions of dollars to environmental partners to date.
1% for the Planet has facilitated $672 million in total certified giving, and signed on 4,872 businesses that contribute 1% of revenues to vetted environmental organzations.
“The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems,” writes Yvon Chouinard, co-founder of 1% for the Planet.
“KCWA is tremendously proud that a local 1% for the Planet business member recommended us as an environmental partner,” said Sara Tekula, KCWA’s founding executive director. “The potential to expand our work in post-wildfire restoration and hazard fuels mitigation is great, and we look forward to joining forces with participating businesses as we support Kula’s recovery and future resilience in the face of climate change.”
